This Is What Thousands of Dead Mosquitoes Look Like
Here is a big pile of absolutely not, no thank you. This is indeed a picture of thousands, if not millions, of mosquitoes that were caught in a trap all the way in Sanibel, Florida, the United States. If you came into work and your boss said today, you're counting how many dead mosquitoes are on this table; you'd surely run. Luckily it wasn't you, but probably the accounting department.
The trap they used or product was meant to eradicate mosquitoes, and clearly, they succeeded. The fact that it is on a conference table and not in a lab is jarring.
Apparently Owls Are Pets Now
Don't be alarmed; it's just a woman taking the bus with her pet, which happens to be an owl. So many questions arise, like how did she manage to get an owl? Why does it have a pee pad? How is she casually riding public transportation with this? This must be what happens when you're meeting Harry Potter but miss the train to Hogwarts and have to take a regular bus.
What a terrifying yet exciting sight to see. How many stares do you think this lady got that night? Definitely the most unique pet, hands down.
This Fish Was so Big It Almost Couldn't Fit in the Boat
A lake sturgeon was apparently caught by a biologist team from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service out in the Detroit River. They do this in order to tag the fish for tracking purposes and then release it since they are a threatened species. After collecting some data on this fish, they came to the conclusion it was over one hundred years old, seven feet long, and over two hundred pounds!
Although some people get worried seeing photos like this, rest assured that this old sturgeon is back to living life unbothered in the river.
Japanese Spider Crab or Alien
A picture that is utterly intriguing and horrifying at the same time. This Japanese spider crab looks like something out of a nightmare, or maybe for some seafood lovers, an absolute dream. Just like their names would suggest, they live in the waters around Japan. Their legs can reach up to twelve feet long, which is insane. Though these sea creatures are scary, it's game over when a hungry octopus is nearby.
These crabs actually shed their shells which is when they are most vulnerable to being eaten by other sea creatures, which may come as a surprise considering how big they are!
The Same Person but One Hand Was Bitten by a Rattlesnake
If you're looking for a fast and efficient way to get rid of wrinkles, then keep reading! Finally, a quick and easy solution, all you have to do is get bit by a rattlesnake. Yes, you read that correctly. You will immediately swell up so much, just like the person's hand in the image, that all your wrinkles will be gone! Maybe this will be the next beauty treatment the Kardashians try.
But in all seriousness, do not actually do this. Being bitten by a rattlesnake requires immediate medical help, so luckily for this guy, he got to the hospital quickly.
Here's How Much Sugar Is Actually in Pasta Sauce and Yogurt
A shocking and disturbing discovery was brought to light when someone decided to physically demonstrate how much sugar is present in various canned and packaged goods. Usually, having yogurt for breakfast seems like a good and healthy option. And opting for a canned pasta sauce for dinner doesn't seem like that big of a deal compared to making it from scratch. But did you ever realize how much sugar is inside these foods?
Apparently, a yogurt could have just as much sugar as a chocolate candy bar! Now, most foods naturally have sugars in them anyway, but these packaged items are overflowing with them!
Look Closely, Not All Things in This Image Are Alive
Quick, can you spot the difference? It honestly might take you a few seconds. A Finnish artist named Liisa Hietanen crochets and knits exact imitations of her friends or people she encounters in her daily life. They've been on display around her neighborhood and in museums. They're so realistic and even life-size that it takes people a few moments to realize they're completely fake! She is truly a talented artist.
Liisa likes to replicate people down to the last detail, like their favorite outfit and jewelry they're wearing or even their pets!
The Tallest Cop 6'9" Next to the the Shortest Cop 5'1"
At first, nothing seems out of the ordinary with this image. For those who are wondering what a person who is almost seven feet tall looks like compared to someone hardly over five feet, this is it. The visual difference is a lot greater than you would have expected. They are clearly police officers, so it would be pretty comical if they were partners. Surely wherever they go, they are used to people asking about their heights!
Whether you are shocked or look at them in awe, you can't deny this is a one-of-a-kind pairing.
This Is How Big Traffic Signals Actually Are
Traffic lights are something people don't usually spend time thinking about. If you drive and are on the road a lot, you see these every day, but who thinks about the size of these objects? And even then, how would you measure these things? Here's a photo of traffic signals and a guy standing next to them for scale, just to give you some perspective on just how big they are.
That moment when you realize traffic signals are actually way bigger than you ever imagined, and they only look tiny because they're so high up in the sky!
These Must Be the Leaves Used to Fan Kings
At first, you may think to yourself; this photo looks like an optical illusion. Maybe this is an image of a very tiny woman and normal sized leaf? Or perhaps it's just a gigantic leaf! Apparently, this woman is only five feet tall, and this leaf is double her size! This leaf most likely comes from a banana tree where its leaves grow so large they can be up to thirty feet tall.
Banana leaves are also edible and used in various cultures to cook by placing food inside, wrapping it, and steaming it. Then you just open it up and eat on the most gigantic serving plate ever!
A Mask Before And After An 11-Hour Shift In Country South Australia
Here is a moment full of relief in which you would be incredibly thankful that you didn't directly breathe this into your lungs! This photo demonstrates just how vital these masks are in general but even more so for those who work in hazardous environments. After working half a day in the countryside of Australia, this person came home covered in dust and was shocked by how much dust their own mask collected!
Breathing in dust could be really detrimental to your health, so good thing this guy was covered. He might need to opt for an even thicker mask next time too!
The Sheer Size of a Redwood Tree Compared to a Human
The majesty of these redwood trees will never fade; they are genuinely one of the world's great wonders. It's a humbling experience to walk around a forest full of trees that tower over you, reminding you how tiny human beings are! Even the sight of a fallen redwood tree is incredible. For some perspective, they are some of the tallest trees on the planet! And this one, in particular, almost looks like a cave.
These forests are magical, and the sight alone will take your breath away! The tree from this photo looks like an art sculpture on display!
The Largest Known Animal Head on the Planet
You've heard dinosaurs are so enormous that humans couldn't even begin to imagine their size. But have you heard of a blue whale? Surely you have, but this beast is, in fact, the largest animal known ever to exist. Bigger than dinosaurs, dozens of elephants, or even thousands of men side-by-side. For scale, the lady in the photo is hardly as tall as the length of this skull. If this graced the ocean, what else is out there?
The whale's head alone is gigantic, making up hardly a quarter of its body. Though this marine animal is cool to look at, it's considered a critically endangered species.
A 90-Year-Old Grandmother's Handwriting Before And After Tremor Treatment
An incredible and inspiring story to bring some hope to your day! Here is a before and after photo of a ninety-year-old woman's handwriting. Why is this so amazing? She struggled with an essential tremor disorder that made it challenging to write, drink from a cup, or even tie shoelaces. However, she got a focused ultrasound treatment that targets and destroys a small patch of brain tissue associated with tremors.
The results were life-changing for this woman, making it possible for her to do simple daily tasks again. Even in the photos, the results are evident enough; what a lucky lady!
Difference Between A Crocodile, A Caiman, And An Alligator
Most people are terrified of crocodiles, caimans, and alligators. They look creepy, are usually huge, and could probably swallow you whole. But did you know these scary-looking creatures are all very different? Pictured is a crocodile, then a caiman in the middle, and an alligator on the bottom. An up-close view allows you to compare the differences in how they look, something you probably wouldn't be able to do in the wild.
Some people think they are absolutely adorable, while others say they are scary. Either way, if you live in Florida, where these guys are abundant, good luck.
The Size of a Husky Compared to a Wolf
Sometimes it's easy to imagine a wolf is just like what you know a domesticated dog to be like. People hardly ever come into contact with wolves anyway, so how could they be sure? Though there are several kinds of wolves, the one in this picture is an excellent example of just how much bigger they really are compared to dogs. Even though it looks pretty similar to the husky, it is clearly huge.
Next time you are outside and see a cute but gigantic-looking dog approaching you, think twice. Maybe it's, in fact, a wolf!
The Largest Known Bird to Have Ever Existed
This gigantic creature known as a Quetzalcoatlus northropi is one of the largest known animals to have ever been able to fly. It dominated the skies during the Dinosaur Age and was as tall as a giraffe. They had interesting bodies with very long necks, small torsos, and super long legs. Apparently, these weird dinosaur bird creatures even acted like giant herons and would pluck their prey from the water.
Being able to see the man standing next to one of these birds gives you some perspective on just how big and terrifying they really were.
This Sword Belonged to a Gigantic Pirate
This is zweihänder, a large two-handed sword that belonged to Grutte Pier. He was supposed to be a Friesian pirate and warlord who was very active around the 1500s. The sword was so large and heavy, weighing in at fourteen pounds and around seven feet tall, that people said he had superhuman strength. Apparently, he could even bend coins using his fingers. How could anyone efficiently use this sword in battle?
It seems awfully inconvenient to use this kind of sword in a fight; it requires both hands and is so heavy it seems it would just slow you down. Unless, of course, you are superhuman.
The Second Largest Whale in the World
You've heard that the blue whale is the largest marine mammal on planet Earth, but do you know what the second largest is? That title rightfully belongs to the fin whale, formerly known as a razorback whale. Whoever was on that boat when this image was taken was probably fascinated yet terrified of what swam right below them. However, this is a pretty rare occurrence because they are in danger of extinction.
If you have a fear of oceans, then keep scrolling! If not, bask in the beauty and awe of what type of sea creatures lie below.
This Is Considered a Small Redwood Tree
Another absolutely amazing mystery of nature is the redwood tree. Forests full of redwoods can be found throughout national parks in California! The tree in this image fell, but it gives you an idea of how wide these trees can get. In fact, this one is considered to be on the smaller side. These trees can sometimes reach a height of 240 feet and a diameter of up to 10 or 11 feet.
But the real question here that many are ignoring is, how did they manage to cut through that tree, and how big was the blade?
Holly Leaves Fight Back Against Nibbling Animals
Have you ever heard of a leaf that changes its shape to protect itself against predators? Well, now you have! These leaves grow on holly trees, the trees with red berries that are used as festive decorations throughout the Christmas season. They have smooth leaves towards the top yet spiky leaves towards the bottom, and scientists think they've cracked the code on why. These festive trees adapted and grew spiny leaves to ward off any animals nibbling on them!
Who knew a tree could respond to the constant nibbling of animals and respond by physically changing the shape of its leaves, how cool.
The Video Game That Takes Place in Poland Vs. Real Life
Greetings from Gdańsk, Poland! Here's an excellent photo of the same place in real life and on a screen in the video game, The Witcher 3. It's an action role-playing game based on The Witcher series of fantasy books by Andrzej Sapkowski. Although the game takes place in a fictional fantasy world, it is based on areas of Poland, where the writer is from. This person could pinpoint the exact spot from their game in real life.
When they say stories come to life, this is what they mean. It must've felt like a surreal and interactive experience for this gamer.
The Door That Weighs Almost 100,000 Pounds
This blast door weighs around 100,000 pounds or approximately 44,000 kg. It's 8 feet thick, nearly 2.4 meters, and 12 feet or 3.7 meters wide. The measurements are absolutely insane; the most solid door ever. What exactly is its purpose? As its name suggests, it's a door that can protect against explosions or toxic gases. With this level of security, is the real purpose of keeping people from getting in or things from getting out?
If you're planning on surviving a nuclear blast anytime soon, this is an excellent place to be. Or if you're looking for a good place to hide your Halloween candy.
A Mobile Lifeguard Stand or a Transformer
Watch out, everybody; the mobile lifeguard station is coming through! This gadget is larger than it appears and has gigantic wheels, but it is still incredibly convenient. It's perfect as a mobile spotting tower for sharks or even for annual surfing competitions! Though the ladder is so long, it seems like it would take a while to go down it. Regardless, the view of the ocean must be amazing from up there!
Maybe this is an absurd idea, but with the size of that thing, it would be pretty cool if the lifeguard could just drive out into the sea to rescue people without getting wet!
This Welder Has Skills for Days
Have you ever seen a photo so satisfying? When someone noticed there were weld marks left on this stainless steel table, they had to find a way to fix it. Luckily for them, there was a solution. With the help of a professional to grind and polish it down, this table looks perfect. Clearly, some superior craftsmanship is going on. Now you can't even tell these are multiple pieces welded together!
However, don't be fooled; this is no easy feat. This is an absolutely smooth and perfect job that takes extreme talent, so whoever did this is in the right field!
This Space Shuttle Completed More Missions Than Any Other Ship
This shuttle is from NASA's Space Shuttle program and the third of five fully operational orbiters to be built. It was in service for around twenty-seven years, launching and landing thirty-nine times! It accumulated more spaceflights than any other spacecraft to this day. Now it sits at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, an extension of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Virginia. This is worth a trip to witness the magnitude of this thing!
The fact that humans can build something this gigantic and capable of accomplishing mind-boggling things like orbiting space is impressive. Although cleaning this must be incredibly hard!
Covid-19 Tests Fade as the Person Gets Better
When COVID-19 hit the world, it was devastating and shocking. Though it's still not gone, people's lives have been able to somewhat return to normalcy. Nowadays most who catch it will quarantine at home and within a week or two be able to return to society. This person conducted a little experiment and took a test almost every other day to document how the virus slowly became less traceable until they tested negative.
Though some would consider this a waste of supplies, it's interesting to see how with time, the tests slowly stop detecting the virus.
This Swedish Warship Is Almost 400 Years Old
This famous Swedish warship rests permanently in the Vasa Museum in Stockholm. It was reportedly built between 1626 and 1628, but the ship sank shortly after sailing. It remains one of Sweden's most popular tourist attractions, with millions of visitors every year. Although it looks like a fake ship or edited photo, this massive thing is indeed real! What's almost more impressive is that they managed to preserve this ship.
Although this ship was supposed to support an entire military, today, it solely supports tourism, being Sweden's main attraction! A boat that didn't float; who would've imagined?
The Best Seat in Mecca
If you're afraid of heights, this one is not for you. Here is a photo of two people sitting on the Abraj Al Bait clock tower in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Looking at the picture could make you nervous and wonder, how did they even get there? It is almost 2,000 feet high and the fourth-tallest building in the world. A drone must've taken this picture because they don't make selfie sticks that long.
The top four floors of the clock tower also serve as a museum, so they must've gone there first. These guys are fearless, making for one of the coolest photos ever.
The World's Biggest Bird Sculpture
There are so many weird structures on this planet that make you stop and wonder, how on earth did someone think of making this? At first, this bird sculpture doesn't look so big, but when you see the person's size in comparison, you realize it is absolutely massive. This attraction is also known as Jatayu Nature Park and can be found in India. It takes a whopping 826 steps to reach the top!
The statue symbolizes the protection of women and their honor and safety. Just another place to add to your bucket list!
A Battleship Barely Passing Through the Panama Canal
The Battleship USS Iowa was the widest ship to have ever passed through the Panama Canal. However, it barely squeezed by with a six-inch gap on each side! Against all odds, they managed to make it through. Whoever was the ship's captain or navigator needs to be applauded because they have some incredible skills. Once a battleship regarded as one of the strongest weapons on earth, it now sits in a museum in California, United States.
This ship is so gigantic; how could one even steer the ship and see where to go? The simple answer is the captain doesn't need to see where they're going; they usually follow a compass!
How Many Glasses of Wine Does It Take to Finish This Barrel
Is this a pirate ship or a wine barrel? It may resemble something of an old wooden boat, but it is, in fact, the world's largest wine barrel ever. A fun game would be to guess how many glasses of wine this actually holds, and there would be only one way to find out! This is on display like a museum for visitors from around the world to come and feast their eyes on, so you could be next.
If you owned this barrel of wine, you would never run out again. Constant celebrations and wine tastings for all!
Did You Ever Realize Just How Big the Typhoon-Class Submarine Is
The typhoon class submarine is an absolute monster designed and built by the Soviet Union for their navy. It is one of the largest submarines in the world and costs billions of dollars to make and maintain. Yeah, it looks enormous and impressive until you imagine being locked up under the ocean in one of these for months at a time! It would probably start to feel a lot smaller than it appears.
The ocean is a vast and crazy place, considering it can fit one of these insanely colossal submarines and millions of marine animals like a blue whale.
A Skeleton of a 82-Foot Long Blue Whale
The Natural History Museum in London is home to a truly enormous blue whale skeleton. This eighty-two-foot-long skeleton is suspended from the ceiling and gives a spectacular view to all its visitors when they walk in. If you take a trip to this museum, you'll have the opportunity to walk underneath the most enormous creature ever to have lived. It's quite terrifying to know it's hanging from a ceiling when it weighs around 7,700 pounds!
The whale on display is from 1891; just to move this skeleton into the museum, a team had to clean and prepare 221 bones.
The Most Advanced Aircraft Carrier in the World
A gem that belongs to the United States Navy, pictured here, is the newest and most advanced nuclear-powered aircraft carrier ever. It goes under the name USS Gerald Ford and will operate in the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Have you ever seen something so futuristic? It's not only the size of about four or five football fields; it will serve as an international airport, military base, and humanitarian relief center.
The sheer size of this thing is hard to wrap your head around, though it will hardly make a dent in the vast ocean, and what's inside is even more impressive.
Did You Have Any Idea a Cactus Can Get This Big
No, this is not a set piece or a fake tree. Even though it's enormous, it is actually real. But how many people can say they've seen a cactus this big before? The odds are not many. This is most likely an organ pipe cactus, which can be found in Mexico and the United States. If you're ever on a scenic drive, wilderness hike, or camping in these areas, you'll most likely run into one of these magnificent plants.
Not sure just how giant this cactus is? Make sure you look closely and notice the man standing at the bottom of the cactus! In comparison to it, he looks like a tiny ant.
The Most Terrifying Bridge on Tianmen Mountain
One of the world's most gorgeous and captivating places is the Coiling Dragon Cliff Skywalk, located on Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie National Park, China. If you're game enough to travel here and cross the glass bridge that hangs over the side of a mountain, you are a brave one. This is an absolute nightmare for anyone afraid of heights or a dream come true for anyone obsessed with adventure and chasing adrenaline thrills.
There's even an exciting zip line between the peaks and bungee jumping, so if you're a more adventurous tourist, this is the place for you!
This Rock Formation Makes the Man Appear Teeny Tiny
These are one of the seven wonders of Russia! It goes by the name "manpupuner," which means a small mountain of idols. These bizarrely shaped stones are the remains of a mountain range that was eroded millions of years ago! They formed due to the harsh weather in the area and created pillars that millions of tourists visit every year. There is a hiking trail nearby but don't be fooled; it is no easy feat.
This hiking trip is said to take anywhere from six to ten days! But now helicopter services take you straight to the rocks to make it more accessible.
This Breathtaking Spring Looks Photoshopped
This hidden gem calls Croatia home and garners visitors all year long! The breathtaking beauty is the Cetina River Spring also known as the Eye Of The Earth. It's iconic for its extraordinary shape and color! It runs for about 65 miles before it flows into the highest collection of mountains in the entirety of Croatia. If you were ever to see this in person, it would indeed leave you speechless.
Although many people travel from around the world to visit, its water is really, really cold. Some people describe swimming in this river as freezing as taking an ice bath.
There's No Way Anyone Could Climb This Tree
This may look like a typical tree but pay close attention. Do you see the people near the bottom of the image for scale? In comparison to the trees, they look like tiny creatures. These iconic trees are called baobab trees or "trees of life." They are found in Africa, Madagascar, and a few in Australia. They're even recognized by many worldwide because they can be seen in Disney's Lion King.
These majestical baobab trees are also featured in the films Avatar and Madagascar and the famous children's novel The Little Prince.
Thank You, Modern Medicine
Imagine having a health issue hundreds of years ago. The best you would probably get is a bout of leeches, or some animal urine to bathe in if you were lucky. But what if you had issues with bone growth, like the child pictures here? Guided growth surgery, like the one this child underwent, was unheard of, and they would have suffered from deformed legs their entire lives, causing them undeniable pain.
Thankfully in this day and age, medicine is advanced enough to correct issues like this as the picture here demonstrates. Luckily for this child, they get to grow up happy and healthy after undergoing corrective surgery.
That Is Not a Dead Body
This person decided to share with the world what happens when you live with Raynaud's disease. The disease causes areas of the body, like the toes and feet, to feel numb and cold in cold weather or stress, and it sure looks unpleasant. Their hand is a normal, tan color, and their foot and especially big toe are such a vibrant blue, it looks like they dipped it in paint.
We just want to give them a nice pair of cozy socks and hope it's not as painful as it appears!
Is It Even the Same Fish?
This picture is the perfect example of what happens when mankind decides to mess with nature. On the right, you have a piece of natural, wild salmon. On the left is farmed salmon. The color and texture are so different, it looks like a totally different animal. The taste and nutritional values must be completely different, too. In fact, the fatty acids salmon is so famous for, like Omega-3, are found in much smaller quantities in farmed salmon.
Maybe this is nature's way of telling us to avoid eating salmon anywhere outside Scandinavia or North America.
A Grandmother And Her Granddaughter
If you look at your family photos, you will notice that some of the obvious features are passed down generations. Some family members have a stronger resemblance than others of course, but you do get some relatives like this grandmother and granddaughter who are so similar in appearance that you almost can't tell where one's face ends and the other begins. Obviously one telltale sign would be the difference in hair color.
This 61-year-old grandmother and her 12-year-old granddaughter could almost be twins from a different time period. It would be interesting to see how much the other family members resemble each other-- maybe this family just has extremely strong genes.
Ken 1985 Vs. Ken 2018
Is it just us or does the Ken of 1985 kind of look like Robert Redford? There are some noticeable differences between these two Ken dolls: The hairstyles definitely represent the time periods that they are from, Ken from the 1980s is more tan and also has blue eyes. We're not sure why the eye color needed updating, but maybe it would have been too much contrast against the blonder hair.
After all, Kenneth Sean "Ken" Carson was introduced in 1961 and surely has come a long way since then. Something you may not have noticed is that 1985 Ken could swivel his head around whereas 2018 Ken cannot. Is that representative of the times we live in? Only Mattel could say for sure.
